The calculation of the optimum number of cutter teeth

The technical diagram for the calculation of the optimum number of cutter teeth, the grade of finish quality, of the feed rate of the material and the cutter rpm.

To calculate the number of the cutting edges of the cutter, according to the finish quality grade required, please send a request with the data necessary fields. We will answer you without any your commitment, in a short time. Otherwise you can use the table below, following the examples subscribed.

Grade of finish quality Sz (μm)

Burning

Softwood

Hardwood

Rough finish

0,10-0,40

0,40-0,60

0,60-0,80

0,80-1,50

Example:
Determine the number of teeth on the cutter necessary to get the finish quality grade Sz = 0.60 mm for the working of softwood, using the cutter with rpm N = 4.000 1/min and feed rate of the material A = 10 m/min.
From the point resulting from the vertical left (grade of finish quality) Sz = 0.60 mm follow the line up to the point of the diagonal (feed rate of the material) A = 10 m/min. Continue vertically towards the horizontal line (rpm) N = 4.000 1/min, and after taking into consideration the major diagonal (number of teeth) Z = 4.
