The calculation of the optimal cutter speed

The technical diagram for the calculation of the optimal speed of the cutter as a function of its diameter and the work material.

To calculate the optimal rpm of the cutter you can send us a request with the data necessary fields. We will answer you without any your commitment, in a short time. Otherwise you can use the table below, following the examples subscribed.

Tip speed Vp (m/s)

Softwood HSS

Softwood HW

Hardwood HSS

Chipboard

MDF

Example:
Determine the optimum rpm considering the tip speed for MDF Vp = 40 m/s and the cutter diameter D = 100 mm.
From the point resulting from the vertical (tip speed) Vp = 40 m/s follow the line to the point of the drawn line from the corresponding point horizontal (cutter diameter) D = 100 mm. At the intersection of the two lines of reference to choose the lower rpm N = 8,000 1/min.
